You might be thinking, why would you want to spend your time and effort on generating organic Facebook leads when you can just attract loads of leads from paid advertising?

There are many benefits to attracting organic Facebook leads.

Yes, it might take you longer to build them up, but while you’re building your leads, you’re simultaneously building up a community of people who trust you and are genuinely interested in what you have to offer.

Difference between Organic and Paid Facebook Leads

Organic Facebook leads are essentially leads which you get from posting and sharing content organically amongst your followers, whereas Paid leads are leads which you get from creating pieces of content via Facebook’s Advertising Platform, usually in the form of a Pay Per Click (PPC) ad.

Top tips to generate organic Facebook Leads

1. Join Facebook Groups within your Industry (Social Selling)

Put yourself in your ideal customer’s shoes and join groups where you think they’ll be. Read what they’re chatting about and what their possible pain points are and respond to those chats with informative and helpful content which can lead back to a sale of your product or service. (This is called social selling).

Few things to take note:

  • Respond to chats with informative content
  • Remain consistent (You might not see immediate results)
  • Don’t spam

2. Optimize Your Facebook Business Page

As Facebook business pages become more complicated to fully set up, focusing on these three points will be good enough to consolidate potential organic leads.

  • Detailed description
  • A professional Profile and Cover photo
  • A clear call to action (CTA)

Detailed description

Make sure to write up a detailed description that explains your concept, but also sells your product or service.

Few tips:

  • Use short, clear sentences with simple language
  • Break your description into short paragraphs to make it more scannable
  • Highlight the most important information at the beginning
  • Make use of brand keywords

Your About page

If you’ve got an ‘About Page’ on your website, simply copy what you’ve written there and paste it into your business page. (Make sure to humanize the content by adding some background about yourself, how the brand originated and where the brand is now).

Personalize your page as much as possible

  • Personalize your page tabs
  • Create an eye-catching cover image
  • Setup a strong CTA
  • *Setup a personalized automatic chat

3. Create and share content on industry events and trends

Create content around current industry events and trends. This gives you an opportunity for people to find you when they search for a specific event or trend and it also shows your eagerness to keep up with industry news and to stay on top of the game.

Here are a few content creation methods you could try:

  • Write up a blog/news post
  • Create a Q&A or an interview video
  • Record a video blog (vlog)
  • Host a Podcast

4. Host Facebook Live events

Facebook Live is known to have a much higher view rate compared to standard Facebook videos, so hosting regular Facebook Live events are a great way to attract the attention of your followers.

There are a number of benefits to hosting Facebook Live events, but one of the top benefits is that you’re able to humanize your brand by showing the faces behind the brand which gives prospects an opportunity to get to know you and to feel more comfortable.

Here are a few event ideas:

  • Host a virtual conference
  • Do a Q&A
  • Introduce yourself and your team
  • Host fun product/service demos

5. Encourage User-Generated content

Off the back of my post about Leveraging User-Generated Content (UGC) and Customer Reviews, this is a fun way to generate organic leads while building brand trust, authenticity, and credibility.

As more people spend their time on various social media channels, encouraging your current customers to create and share content while using either your product or service is a must. (people buy from people).

Probably one of the best examples I’ve got is what Coca-Cola famously did with their ‘share a coke‘ campaign.

To end off

Generating organic Facebook leads may take longer than it would with paid leads, but in the long-term organic provides a lot more benefits.

For the creatives, this is a fun task!
