Steps to optimize your website speed

A fast website not only benefits your business but also your overall user experience.

1. Choose a good website host

Host your website with a trusted hosting provider like Xnello. Xnello is a reliable hosting provider with a stable network and round-the-clock support. They also ensure that your website stays up, stays fast, and stays supported.

2. Reduce image and video file sizes

It’s always nice to have a website with lots of eye-catching images and videos, but there’s a negative side to it as these file sizes are usually fairly big which will slow your website down.

To combat this, it is recommended that you use a compression tool or plugin that reduces the original size of the image/video file without compromising its quality. Try Smush.

3. Remove unnecessary website tools/plugins

Website tools/plugins make it really easy to implement new and cool features. The downside is the more plugins you install the more your website will need to load scripts and styles or generate database queries which will result in slower response times.

It’s best to review your current website tools/plugins, remove unnecessary ones and keep the ones you need updated on a regular basis.

4. Use a website caching tool

A caching tool, in summary, makes your website extremely fast, leading to better SEO scores and increased user satisfaction.

We recommend the W3 Total Cache tool. This tool improves the SEO and user experience of your site by increasing website performance and reducing load times by leveraging features like content delivery network (CDN) integration and the latest best practices.

Steps to optimize your website SEO score

While SEO score optimization does take time, it will ultimately be worthwhile in the long run.

1. Publish relevant website content

Publishing relevant website content on a regular basis is a great way to build up your SEO score. Publishing informative and read-worthy content on your blog/news feed is one of the top inbound marketing strategies which helps attract more website viewers and encourages more website engagement.

2. Update past blog content

Much like people, Google doesn’t want to showcase content that was published years ago… so it’s important to audit your website content on a regular basis to make sure it is updated and relevant.

3. Complete your Metadata

Each page of your website will have a metadata section, which describes what that specific webpage is about. For your SEO score, this is very important. Make sure to complete each of your website pages Metadata Titles and Descriptions.

4. Link building

Link building is another great way to increase your overall SEO score. The more links you get from other websites, the more ‘authoritative‘ your website becomes.

This is not always easy and can take some time. Include inbound and outbound links to your website content to provide your readers with easy access to additional content that supports what is being said.

5. Use Alt Attribution tags for images and video

You should add Alt tags to all your visual elements (images and videos) in order to help search engines understand what is being displayed visually in your content.
