Podcasts have been on the rise over the past few years with many people turning to audio content for entertainment and informative information.
Currently, podcasting is a lot less saturated and competitive compared to blogging, so if you enjoy entertaining and sharing informative information via audio, now is the perfect time to start your own podcast.
Starting your own podcast might seem difficult at first, but by following the below easy steps, you’ll be up and running in no time!
Here are 4 easy steps which you can follow:
1. Planning
This is one of the most exciting steps in the process. This is where you can let your mind run free with possible ideas around what you’re wanting your podcast to be about, what you’re going to call it, who you want as a co-host if you want one, and what type of format you’re wanting to adopt (length of episodes, is it for entertainment purposes, is it educational, who you plan on having as possible guest speakers).
2. Getting your equipment together
Once you’ve completed your planning step, your second step is to gather all the equipment you looking to make use of, with that being a recording device (laptop), a clear microphone, noise-canceling headphones, a camera (if you plan on sharing on YouTube), editing software like Premiere Pro and a design program to accommodate for all your cover and teaser images (Photoshop, Canva, etc).
3. Create a generic Intro and Outro
It’s a good idea to create a generic intro and outro which you can use for each episode you release. This is a great way to brand yourself with a distinctive sound.
You might be thinking, what should I record in my intro and outro? Introduce yourself, briefly explain the overall theme of what your podcast is about, and encourage your listeners to follow your podcast channel.
4. Choose a Podcast Host
If you decide to record video, YouTube is a great place to display your episodes, but the ultimate objective will be to host your podcast on Google Podcast, Spotify, and Apple Podcast. To do this, you will first need to host your episodes on a server like Buzzsprout which will then allow you to feed into your preferred directory via RSS.
